On 14 November 2025, the Chair of Diversity Education and International Educational Research, in collaboration with Transfer e.V., is organising the theory-practice-conference ‘Challenges and New Formats for Youth Exchange in the Context of Geopolitical Tensions and Conflicts’. International school and youth exchange is currently faced with serious challenges: geopolitical tensions and wars, sanctions regimes, stricter entry requirements, as well as the rise of authoritarian, nationalist and isolationist tendencies in various countries are having a noticeable impact on international cooperation. The conference is dedicated to these issues and aims at a systematic reflection on current challenges, as well as the development of innovative formats for international youth exchange in the context of current geopolitical conflicts and tensions. The conference is intended to serve as a platform for dialogue between research and practice, contribute to conceptual development and provide new impetus for the future of international youth exchange.
